Lifestyles Magazine Prague- Luxury Real Estate: Chateau in Wine Region for sale

This chateau located on the meander of the Dyje river in the Moravian countryside is steeped in history. The original fortress which stood on the site, high up above the narrowest point in the river’s meander, was constructed in 1289. The fortress was inherited by the House of Lipá in 1312, and later bought by the House of Kravare. The next major change in the property came in the year 1512, when a process began of rebuilding the castle in a more contemporary style, and by 1562, the castle had been transformed into a Renaissance chateau.

The marvellous property still retains the charm and character of its roots, with architectural features over several centuries visible. Its location near the Austrian border, and in the famous Moravian wine region of the Czech Republic, gives it enormous potential for reconstruction into a hotel or a hotel and congress center.

While the area as a whole includes a river valley with rich greenery and abounding nature, the grounds forming the castle park warrant their own description. Only a few cities can boast a castle park of this beauty. Founded by the princess Eleonore Marie of Oettingen, the spouse of the Lord Charles of Liechtenstein, the 12 hectare park was constructed in the style of an English garden, and several species of plants, including uncommon leafy and coniferous vegetation, such as the alpine errant, maple-leaf plane, and arc-black pine, can be found on-site. This park is not part of the property for sale, but rental arrangements are possible.
