This grand Chateau, founded in the 13th Century, is a Czech-listed cultural heritage
site. The word Prčice derives from the Czech word “prkna” meaning “plank” as the original construction was of wooden planks on a stone foundation.
At some point in history the Chateau was appointed the status of “royal” chateau, allowing it to be used for official state representation.
In the 17th century the chateau was reconstructed to its present form by the renowned Prague builder and architect Frantisek Pree. The chateau and its estate at Prcice changed hands several times throughout the centuries, each time increasing in stature and size. The last aristocratic owners of the property were the Eisenstein family. The last private owner of the estate [before Communism?] was Jaroslav Hasek, the last pre-war chairman of the board of the famous Skoda Plzen heavy industry works.
Since the early 1990s, the family who currently owns the chateau has been slowly rebuilding the estate’s buildings, farm lands and forests to their former glory. The Chateau at Prcice is now the centerpiece of an enchanting pastoral valley which is becoming a mecca for hikers, cyclists, cross-country skiiers, golfers and those who appreciate the simplicity of an era gone-by.
The Chateau itself has 2,700sqm of living space and is surrounded by a 1,500sqm courtyard enclosed by outbuildings and stables. All of this is surrounded by a three-hectare “Chateau” park full of exotic, majestic trees and fish ponds. The family also owns some 500 hectares of healthy and farmable forest and about 80 hectares of rich agricultural land.
While the Certovo Bremen golf club only five kilometres away, nature lovers can also enjoy year-round recreation, including skiing or summer relaxation at nearby Hotel Moninec.
Price: 25, 000, 000 CZK – An additional 500 hectares of forest is available with this property.
